Unter dem Titel burning conscience erforscht Isabel Motz in einer mehrteiligen Recherche, wie sich Prozesse der Militarisierung und Entmilitarisierung in Landschaften abzeichnen und wie diese Zuschreibungen die Wahrnehmung unserer Umwelt verändern.

Durch die Dokumentation in Form von Objekten, Videos und Textfragmenten werden lokale militärische Infrastrukturen, Relikte atomarer Bedrohung während des Kalten Kriegs sowie gesellschaftliche Reaktionen darauf sichtbar.

Isabel Motz (*1997) arbeitet als Grafikdesignerin und künstlerische Forscherin in Stuttgart. Während ihres Studiums an der Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe entwickelte sie ihre Praxis, in der sie Grafikdesign und Medienkunst mit einem besonderen Interesse an der Geschichte spezifischer Orte verbindet. In ihren Projekten untersucht sie lokale Ereignisse und Phänomene, stellt diese in einen globalen Zusammenhang und hinterfragt dabei bestehende Strukturen und Narrative.

In her multi-part research project burning conscience, Isabel Motz examines how processes of militarisation and demilitarisation become visible in landscapes—and how these associations shape our perception of the environment.

Through a combination of objects, video works, and text fragments, she documents local military infrastructures, Cold War-era relics of nuclear threat, and the societal responses they provoked.

Isabel Motz (*1997) is a graphic designer and artistic researcher based in Stuttgart. During her studies at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, she developed a practice that blends graphic design and media art with a particular focus on the histories embedded in specific places. Her projects investigate local events and phenomena, situating them within global contexts while critically engaging with existing structures and narratives.
